Having Trouble Installing Mobo Driver from CD Vista

I've just completed my first PC build, and it's gone well so far.

I'm using Windows Vista 64-bit and trying install the drivers for my motherboard, a Gigabyte EX58-DS4.

I inserted the CD and according to the Mobo manual expected a window to come up saying: 'run this program' or something like that, but it never came up. After going to the CD drive in the 'computer' section of Vista, there still aren't any options to run any programs on the cd.

If anyone could give me some advice on installing these drivers off the cd, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks!

The cd probably has a file called Setup.exe
You should be able to double click on it to launch/run the setup.

Thanks for the response, but there are no executable programs on the cd.

It is basically a list of about a dozen applications in winrar format. They have names like Intel_ICH9R/ICH10R_SATA_RAID_Driver.rar

I've considered unzipping the ones I think I need, but the manual described a setup program that would run, assess which drivers I need, and basically install them for me.

Jeez - you are going to have to unrar each one you need. That's a piss poor way of doing it if you ask me.

Does the cd bring the 64bit drivers?

I think I just started downloading them straight from the manufacturer site isntead. I get the latest and i know they're right.

If you have to unzip files, I suggest 7zip.

Thanks for the responses everyone,

what I did was unzip the ones that I thought I needed, and installed those. I also went to the site to download one I wasn't sure about.

Unfortunately now I'm not 100% sure if I've installed all the drivers correctely or if they are all up to date. However, the computer is working great, so I think it went ok.

In the future I might go to the motherboard website and update all the drivers from there so that I know I've got what I need.

One of the reasons I limit use of Gigabyte boards in our builds, way too much hassle. The boards themselves are good but the CDs they come with seem to not be right most of the time. Also with the download section of their website you can't always rely on the drivers being correct or not corrupt.
I think if they bother to improve their support and drivers they could give Asus a good run for their money.
