Intel DP45SG No Video No beeps
I just built myself a new system. Intel DP45SG Board / Intel E8400 Chip / CORSAIR TW3X4G1333C9DHX 4GB PC3-10666 (DDR3-1333) DDR3 Memory / EVGA Gforce GTS 250 1GB DDR3 PCI-E 2.0 Video. When i first put the computer together, I tried to boot and i got no video. I checked all connections and tried again and still nothing. I then swapped the video card with a ASUS PCI-E 512mb DDR2 card and tried booting. I still got nothing. I tried remounting the CPU and removing unecessary components and just left the ram / video card / cpu / motherboard hooked up. I tried booting, still nothing. I then tried removing the ram to listen for beeps.. Didnt get any beeps. I removed the video card and tried starting it .. Still no beeps. When i start the PC all the fans run fine but i have no video and i get no beeps no matter what. I figured out that the bios on this board only supports 1.5v ram and the ram i have is 1.6v. But when removing the ram and video cards I still dont get any beeps. I even tried removing the battery from the motherboard for an hour to clear the CMOS and that didnt help at all either. I checked through all the connections to make sure everything was in the right spot and in tight and I still get nothing . There is a PC speaker built into the board so I dont know why it wont tell me anything.. All the parts i bought were retail in box and this has to be the 30th PC i built at least.. If anyone has any ideas of what could be going on , Please help me out , I wanna get this bad boy up and running. Thanks

Sounds like a dead board. Sadly Intel boards have gone down in quality. They are made by Foxconn. Anyhow, try benching the board out of the case. If it still does the same thing then take it back or ship it back and get a new one. If you ship it/take it back, do yourself a favor and get an Asus motherboard.
Good luck.

I have statistically had more dead asus boards then foxconn (and not even close). Oh by the way, are you sure that board was made by foxconn? I suppose you would no better since you build over 300 pc's a month and primarily promote amd boards

I assume you have the correct ram now right? if so what are the specs?
I found this on google>>>
have you connected the POWER LED in the wrong spot?. check that there are two options the first one is at the area where all the other led connectors are and the other one is a little bit above that area, it has space for three little spikes to call it like that and it's says alternative power led, if you have it there and your pc is not booting up is because you have to use a different cable, choose one with only capacity for two spikes and you will find the right spot on the right side of the board; beneath the memory ram's slot you will see the southern chipset and next to it on the right too you will be able to see the place where every led goes connected ..just try, look for the right place because it has the name right there on the board. If you have done any changes since you stared the pc for the first time you should reset the bios just if you want to AND as i said if you have done any changes.
Another thing, did you buy from Tiger Direct? Those guys are notorious for shipping bad boards. I also assume all your fans were coming on right? What power supply?

Let's keep the brand and vendor sniping down a bit, please.
What are you using for a power supply? The board should POST with that ram, regardless of voltage specs. It should beep 3 times with no ram. No beeps means the board is not starting - it could be bad board, bad CPU, or bad/improperly connected PSU.

I bet either the board is shorting on something inside the case or the motherboard is toast but knowing what power supply OP is using will help answer this better.

The powersupply is a OCZ 550W FATAL1TY
The Motherboard is an Intel DP45SG
The chip is an Intel E8400
The Video card is EVGA 01G-P3-1156-TR Geforce GTS 250 SC 1GB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 (2.0v)
The RAM is CORSAIR TW3X4G1333C9DHX 4GB PC3-10666 (DDR3-1333)
Ok, as far as the power LED is concerned, I had it connected in the optional spot to begin with. I tried putting it in the other slot, still nothing, no beeps or anything. I also tried unhooking all of the HDD LEDS Reset sw etc and I just left the power on switch to see if maybe something was in wrong.. Tried booting, still nothing, no beeps or anything. Also , No i did not buy from tigerdirect, i bought all parts indivually retail in sealed boxes from zipzoomfly.
As far as it being a bad cpu, i doubt it because the fan on the heatsink still spins and everything, but it's still a possibility. The PSU is connected properly ive reinserted all connections multiple times and i still get nothing. I have nothing connected now except for the ram / video card / board / fans , all the HD's and DVDs have been taken out completely. BTW you know how the newer boards have the 8pin connector? Well the board i have has a regular (IDE HD TYPE) 4pin connector which i have plugged in. I tried unplugging it and the heatsink fan doesnt spin without it. I've tried resetting the cmos by removing the battery for 30minutes and it did nothing as well. I'm nearly convinced that it is a bad board. I'm going right now to bench test the system. If I dont get anything there I'm going to swap the PSU. If that doesnt work. I actually have another board ( the exact same model brand new ) that i will test with the same ram / cpu. I Dont have any ram that is compatabile with the bios ver. of this board. But at this point I just want to know if the board is alive.. I wanna hear beeps.. thats all i need and then i could do the rest... If anyone else has any other ideas on what could be going on please help me out.. This is stressing me out , im about to take a baseball bat to the machine lol

The board is outside of the case now ready to be bench tested. I'm leaving the battery out for 30minutes before i proceed. I should be done testing in about 45minutes. With any luck I could get it to boot up with video or at least get some beeps out of it.. Ill keep you guys posted. I apprechiate all the reccomendations and advice. If you guys have any other suggestions or ideas , please let me know. Ill keep you posted. Thanks

It is very unlikely the CPU is bad. The failure ratio is like 1 in 10 million for both AMD and Intel.

You need a power supply with an 8 pin aux connector. Look for "EPS" in the specs.

Here are all the connectors on this PSU
550W Connectors:
1 x 20/24-pin ATX
1 x 4-pin CPU
1 x 8-pin CPU
Modular Connectors:
1 x 6-pin PCI-E
1 x 6+2-pin (8-pin) PCI-E
5 x Peripheral
1 x Floppy
6 x SATA

Hmm - I just loaded up a picture of that board and it doesn't have an 8 pin connector, it has a 4 pin connector - and it's a square 2x2, not a 1x4 like drive connectors. You need the 20+4 connected to the main ATX connector, and the 2x2 connected to the socket near the CPU.

glc , the 4pin connector on the board is not square , its the same as the ones that go into IDE drives.. Look at the pic again.. Thx for trying to help tho.. It was just a defective board.
So after i bench tested the system and went through every little thing. I then took another board ( same exact model ) and tested the whole system with the new board. Everything worked fine... The board was just defective =X I apprechiate everyones help, thanks so much..
P.S. Don't ever buy this board !

Hmm - the picture I looked at on Tiger Direct shows a square 2x2........
I agree - I have been kinda sour on Intel boards for the past few years, starting with the Socket 775's. Their 478 boards were outstanding but something changed.
