USB ports dont work
I've had loud fan noise for 3-4 months now. Last week my PC wouldn't start but would keep rebooting itself. I re-installed Windows XP without losing any data. Windows started working fine after this but the USB ports would not work, except the one with the mouse attached in it. High speed DSL modem stopped working and every time I inserted a USB pen drive, it would show new hardware found but would not read it. Neither would it show up in "My Computer". This is a custom built PC so I opened the box, cleaned the fan, found the make of the motherboard and installed the chipset driver (Intel Desktop board 101GGC) for it . As soon as I inserted the USB pen drive after this, I saw a small window flash for a second which read the make of the USB drive but it still would not read it or show up in "My Computer" as an external drive, except detecting the hardware.
I don't see any yellow question marks on any hardware in Device Manager.
Don't know where to go from here.

USB ports dont work
Do a quick read on your motherboard, you may need to install SP2 or higher to get USB2.0 working on the ports - or a driver from the website for USB2.0

USB ports dont work
Also check drive management to see if they show up there.
