Intel Pentium 4 Northwood A80532 Driver

Hello all my compters been running really poor so today i took it all apart and got all the dust out and cleaned all the fans and everything up. Its helped a bit but its still running a bit poor. I did a fresh copy of windows too and that didnt help either. But i've noticed my Chipset driver is really old and is 2004. I've looked on the intel website and i cant find a driver for it and that utility tool says its not an intel chipset but everest and CPUID say differently. Will it make the computer any better if the chipset driver is updated? or is it not worth worrying about? Also what else could i update to make it run better.
Thanks in advance Paul

Can you tell us what make and model compter this is and have you upgraded any of the hardware?
If it is not a branded but custom built machine can you list the hardware including motherboard make and model and power supply make and model?

It could but at this stage not much you can do will help this old chipset. Computers were not meant to last forever, if you can get 3 years out of a machine with good performance you are doing good.
When you say slow, do you mean slow surfing the internet or is it slow period even when you are doing tasks off line? Adding memory usually helps, how much memory you got on this machine?

Motherboard - Nec Computers sis651
Motherboard Name Gigabyte GA-8SIML (3 PCI, 1 AGP, 1 CNR, 2 DIMM, Audio, Video, LAN)

Ram - 512mb 184pin - I know this could improve things which im going to do.
Cpu - Intel Pentium 4 2.53ghz
Os - Windows Xp
Not sure what you mean by power supply? Says on everest power managment - AC Line ??

I know its not the best of computers but i only use it for surfing the net and running my shop and occasionally playing games. On this machine i used to play Battlefield 2 on low settings about 2 years ago but now i dont think it would hack it at all. Today the computer kept turning itself off when i pressed a key and in the end it wouldnt come back on and stayed on the packard bell screen. So i turned it off and took a memory stick out and ran it on 256mb and it loaded up ok. Since then i took computer apart and gave it all good clean and put sticks back in and its ok again. Does it sound like them memory is letting it down? I've seen 2 x 1gb sticks on ebay for about ?35 freepost brand new from america, do you think they are worth getting? and also why are they loads cheaper from america?
Thanks for your help i really appreciate it.

sis+Intel there is your main problem
You can upgrade the memory to 1GB or even 2GB, you will see some improvement.

This here is a better deal. PC2700 will work on a PC2100 motherboard and costs $10 less, also Kingston is a better brand in my opinion than PQI http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820134177

That is not an Intel chipset - it's a SiS chipset. Of course Intel's utility will tell you that it's not an Intel chipset.

It's a Packard Bell - retire it. THAT is the main problem. It's definitely seen better days. There is a reason Packard Bell has not been in the US market for years - sorry to say, they build junk.
