Proc Upgrade question
I need a processor speed pump. Currently I am using a Intel C2D 2.13Ghz on an nforce 680i. I want to be ready for Win7 and XP virtualization mode. Considering my motherboard can only use Wolfdale (C2D) and Kentsfield (C2Quad) processors on upgraded BIOS. I am stuck choosing between maxing out speed using C2D E8400 or using a middle of the road Quad Q6700. Is the quad better than the C2D for gaming? I use this machine for gaming and movie playback as well as backing up DVDs.
Thanks in advance.

Proc Upgrade question
All the E8*** series support Intel VT, so you will be fine when it comes to WinXP Virtualization mode.

Not yet. Quads only shine when you are doing heavy multitasking or video editing/rendering with software that is quad optimized. I'm sure that the game developers will be taking advantage of 4 cores sometime, but a fast dual core is still the best choice for a pure gaming machine.
