amd or intel
Hi everybody
I'm going to buy a new motherboard and cpu . I have been proposed the following :
(AM2+) MSI K9A2 PLATINUM 790 CHIPSET
(AM2) AMD PHENOM64 9950 QUAD - 2.6GHz
What are the most similar solutions by intel ? . Primarily when it comes to performance , and around the same price level. What would you choose ?
Thanks in advance

amd or intel
That depends on what you'll be doing with your build?

at this point in time I would say get what you are familiar with....
no need to go into the whole Intel or AMD thing...they both have their pro's and con's on paper and price differences but that isnt enough to sway one side or the other....
I would opt for what you feel most comfortable with...
what will the main purpose of the rig be and what is your budget and what will you need for the build and what dont you need...?
we can give you options best suited to you from both teams if you'd like...

Hard to compare. Intel Processors are faster when comparing dual cores to dual cores and quad cores to quad cores but AMD are cheaper.
You can get an AMD Phenom II 940 Quad for the same price as an E8500 dual core so it is what you want to spend your money on.
The Phenom II 940 is faster than the 8 series Intel Quads but no competition to the 9 Series Intel Quads.
There is no better, both AMD and Intel CPUs are awesome, its what you want and how much you wan to spend. So it is really your call.
