Which cpu get hotter
They both go from cold to hot is 2 to 5 seconds...That's why they have fans and such.

Which cpu get hotter
Intel always run hotter than AMD with standard HSF. That is not necessarily a bad thing, it's just different design philosophy.

Which cpu get hotter
Actually a while back when amd was leading with their athlon64 and 939 socket chip they did run cooler than certain intel chips. I still have an fx 60 running at 33 under full load (obviously water cooled but still to keep it that cool....) But at this point, with quad core computing and 8 cores coming for the future heat is pretty balanced. Remember, a lot of chip today are 65/45 nm which also help with heat control.

Which cpu get hotter
You can't generalize. Both AMD and Intel have some hot running chips and some cool running chips.

Which cpu get hotter
The Prescott series Intels were known to run very hot, I also have an AMD Thunderbird that runs very hot. My AMD 65nm Brisbane runs around 35-40c in the summer and I have an Intel Pentium dual core that never gets above 25c.

And a lot depends how much voltage you are shooting to the CPU.
A lot has to do with the CPU cooler.
A lot has to do with overall case ventilation and airflow.
Lots of variables.
Only in theory can you say which is or should be cooler.

Which cpu get hotter
I have an AMD Palomino 1.2 ghz that runs in the mid 50s all the time with the HSF at full speed and the case cover off, however my Northwood 3.0 stays in the mid 30s yet is more than twice as fast...
Do CPU's have an ideal operating temp like a car engine, or are they like superconductors where cooler is always better?

Which cpu get hotter
In general, cooler means you can run faster, but sometimes things don't speed up at the same rate and making it colder may mean you have to run slower. Running faster also generates more heat so keeping temperatures low gets harder pretty fast.

Which cpu get hotter
Doesn't make a darn bit of difference as long as you keep the temperature within the published limits.
