OS on external hard drive

I wanted to install linux operating system on an external hard disk.

Needed to know pros and cons of this.
Would the experience differ in any way from running an OS from an internal hard disk ?

Thanks

OS on external hard drive

Depending on how the external is connected, it may be slower.

Have been doing it using SCSI stuff on Unix for years. Move stuff from inside to outside as needed with no issues. SCSI controllers are set up for it.

Make your own.

Use this enclosure: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817362003

and get a hd. I would suggest a WD.
