Do Sata HDD require RAID for it to work

Do i have to run raid in order to make my sata hdd work?
I started out with a IDE hdd with vista, I want to upgrade to a sata hdd with the old IDE hdd as a slave drive. How am I able to make this work out?

My situation now is that I installed vista in the new sata hdd however when I load it up normally I get a BSOD right after the windows boot up bar. If I go back to the old HDD in IDE vista works. However I want IDE to be slave not the os.

HElp?

In my gigabyte mobo I have a
Sata DVD drive
Sata HDD and IDE HDD

Only the IDE and SATA DVD works fine on my computer

But If i try to run SATA HDD alone ir will boot up the windows bar but bsod and restarts.

All I did was install vista and restarted the computer and it acted up.
Why would it show vista at the start and after restarting it doesn't?

anyways the error code is

1000007e
c0000006
81ccfb72
8b594930
8b59462c

files that help describe the prob

minidump
sysdata.xml
version.txt

Plus I went to my mobo and set it to factory setting (no oc)
no luck.

Do Sata HDD require RAID for it to work

No, you don't have to use Raid in order to use a SATA drive. As far as using your IDE as a slave, I presume you have an IDE port on the motherboard or controller card. If not, there are IDE to SATA adapters. You would have to either use cable select to use it as a slave, or set the jumpers to the slave position. You would also need to change your bios I think in order for it to boot later than the SATA. As far as the BSOD, I don't know. It might be a problem with your formatting or installation of Windows. We'll see what someone else comes up with.
