Sata drive not recoz in bios

This is a new build
new wd sata gd 500 gb
asus mobo p5q3 deluxe
intel chip Q9550 2.83 . 8 gigs memory
using old cd-rw/dvd-rom
and old dvd/cd rewritable drive
on xp. Cannot detected new
drive and both old drive on
ide setup. Need help to detect
new hard drive. ati diamond
3870 video card

List all of your hardware specs including PSU.
Check and be sure that everything (connectors etc.) is plugged in.

Sata drive not recoz in bios

Connect it to the lowest numbered SATA port (Intel ICH), not a Marvell (eSATA) or Sil (Drive Xpert) port. Make sure the Marvell controller is enabled in the bios in IDE mode, that's what controls the IDE. The IDE drives will not be seen by the main bios, the Marvell has its own bios. The ICH needs to be set to IDE or AHCI (preferred) mode, not RAID.
