Hot or Not HD Heat Issue

Hey there,
I set out to build my PC for the first time...got everything connected and powered up. I had it up and running for about 10 minutes when I noticed the HD heating up...the area around it was very warm and the unit itself was hot to the touch - I dont think that is normal

I have a brand new WD Black Caviar 500 GB HD I connected it via the SATA cable and connected it to the PSU

Any suggestions as to why its running so hot? Is it normal? Do I just need to buy an HD fan or is there maybe a connection issue?

Thank you

Notes of interest: Coolmaster Case, Still in BIOS phase (ie brand new build), powered for only 10 minutes and turned off in fear of frying something. HD installed in the front right above the intake fan. Powered up with side panel open
