Facts:
- Current Build contains a lot more micro than the original StarCraft
- Biggest difference between StarCraft 1 and StarCraft 2: Higher mobility in SC2
- Allies can’t use Nydus in the current build
- The highest AI (“insane”) is cheating. The AI level “high” and “insane” use the same strategy but “insane” got a lot more resources. The AI’s don’t use a maphacks though.
- The Mothership didn’t work well as a superweapon. So it is just a support unit in the current build.
- Multiplayer contains weather effects.
- They try to add a day/night cycles to the multiplayer. But Dustin guess it doesn’t work because you can’t see the units good enough at night.
- They will have unsymmetrical multiplayer maps but they are uncertain if they add them to the ladder map pool.
That's not saying much, HAHAHAHAHAHAHA just kidding couldn't resist.

Nothing I didn't really already know or suspect.
The weather is cool, but the night thing is weird, though... wouldn't night on other planets have a similar lighting scheme to the twilight tileset...?

hooray for micro. There better be more micro with the amount of macro that isn't in the game anymore...

The biggest issue NOT mentioned in this synopsis is the mentionig of the removal of the Thors mechanical rebirth (If it?s in the enemy base it can?t save the Thor anyway, if it?s in your own it?s cheaper to buy a new one). Now they are trying a Particle cannon Talent that destroys ground troops.

Cooool! I've been suggesting for quite some time now that the Thor get a weapon similar to Unreal 2k4 Leviathan's Singularity Cannon. Hopefully that's what they're considering as I'd think it would be a ton of fun.

It's not cheaper to buy a new one... mechanical rebirth has no gas cost.

I am SEVERELY disappointed at the Mothership's support role. It deserves to be much more than a remodelled Arbiter.
I am, however, pleased that the Thor no longer has Mechanical Rebirth... because now they can put it on the Phoenix

According to the interview the Rebirth took 200 Gas, and there was no exact mentioning of the Particle cannon other that it "crumbles" ground troops.

Thanks so much for providing clarification. Is there anything else which has been overlooked? Would love to hear more details if you can read it clearly.

There are some minor details but nothing has been really left out. For example that they won?t use the mobile nydus worm this time but might try to introduce it in a expansion.

That can't be. That means they'd have taken out Mechanical Rebirth only to put it right back in at BlizzCon.

We seem to have overlooked the fact that this is from WWI 2008, meaning that the mothership role is outdated. Things change so fast back and forth....don't know what else would be outdated here.

Well obviously they seemed happy with Mechanical Rebirth after all, since it survived post-BWWI. Maybe they just tweaked the cost, making it cheaper.

According to the website the interview was TODAY. They also mention stuff like why they changed the Macro mechanics from the shutdown Gas thing to the MULE, Queen and Dark Pylon. They want to make the Economy more involving especially Gas since in SC:BW it?s adding 3 Peons and be done with it. Here is the part I?m talking about:

We have been thinking for a while how to remodel the geysers. We want that you have to take more care of the economy. The Geysers are a ideal target because they were so unremarkable before: Just send in 3 Workers each and you?re done. We decided to change the mechanic which didn?t work though because it was very hard to balance. If we had forced players to handle Gas harvesting manually it would have been unfair for inexperienced players. They would?nt have been able to afford expensive troops like Heavy Cruisers or High Templars, even though especially these were especially popular with casual Players. Therefore we would have had to change the mechanic in a way that would allow normal Gas income when Players leave gas to itself. Micro-Experts though would then get significantly more income and only construct expensive units like Carriers and Archons which would also be unfair. Also the constaint controlling of the Geysere would have quickly become annoying. we don?t want to bother our Players but reward them.
:/ My Translation isn?t really 100% but I?m certain the meaning comes across.

Blech. I really don't think it does.
A 'remodelled arbiter' (more like a SUPER arbiter!) just allows so much more tactical choice and purpose rather than some big dumb super-weapon with nothing but offensive abilities.

Right now it has cloak, vortex and teleport... seem's pretty decent but vortex could be changed to something better.

I dislike the fact that insane AI mode "cheats" and gets extra resources. Insane AI should play by the same rules we do, but have the best micro-management they can possibly program into it. Kind of like the deep blue chess computer beating the best humans in the world.
I know that kind of AI might require lots of work and programming time, but we have years of expansions coming. Insane AI should be improved constantly to make it unbeatable without the need for cheats.

You can't really 'program' micro... extra resources makes them more difficult in a very regulated and controlled way.

That would be the level of AI before insane.
Unless the AI is actually adaptive, it can only perform strategies that it was programmed to do. Therefore, people will eventually beat it, simply by using better strategies with an evolving metagame. The point of having Insane cheat is so that you can still get some challenge from the AI.
Oh, and the AI seemed rather decent at BlizzCon. And I didn't even play it on the hardest difficulty (since we were fairly evenly matched on normal).

I agree there are limits to programming micro, but I am thinking more like an unlimited amount of multi-tasking.
Having each high templar psi-storm the spots with the most units while stalkers blink in and focus fire the weakest units. Meanwhile, it is harassing your expansions and macroing like crazy. Insane difficulty should kick our ass within the rules of the game with superior programming.
I always thought it was interesting when they finally made a Chess AI that could beat the best humans in the world. That is what Insane difficulty should work towards without the need to cheat.
I don't expect this to be a reality before launch, but something they continuously improve for years.

I don't see the point, since if you want to play against a pro gamer, you should play against real life pro gamers, not practice off AI.
Even insane AI is just for kicks, you don't play the same way you play against a human opponent. They obviously cheat so conventional tactics like harassing and preventing expansions is not going to be effective.

gamestar posted another article on all units & abilities, most of it was old stuff but some of it was new ^^
Nighthawk --> Raven
Apparently there's been another name change and it's now called "Raven"
*new Ability*
Defensive Drone: Deploys a drone that intercepts any missiles/shots fired by base defenses like the terran missile turrets.
High Templar
*new Ability*
Plasma Surge: This ability is similar to the shield battery in sc1 as it allows the ht to recharge the damaged shields of all friendly protoss units in a selected area

Poor Nomad/Nighthawk/Raven, what did it do to deserve such an identity crisis? Personally I prefer "Nighthawk" by the way, "Raven" has more of a fantasy rather than sci-fi ring to it.

I dig the new Brood Lord model =D
It still reminds me of the old Guardian, but looks intimidating and very Zerg.
Actually, more than a Mutalisk evolution, it looks like a Scourge evolution.

Name, Raven: Sounds lame, I agree with Eligor. It reminds me of fantasy.
High Templar - I think it'd prefer for it to be a single target ability. It'd make for some important micro hand-eye coordination choices on unit shield regeneration in small skirmishes instead of just "plop down on your army AoE effect."
Dislike the Broodlord model, it's a giant scourge.
Nighthawk creating a turret to shoot down projectiles? Wtf? Why not just have it shoot down projectiles itself? This seriously sounds like a bad ability.
"Alright guys, we're going to design this flying high tech machine, that drops a secondary machine, which shoots down projectiles"
And why is it called a defensive drone? If going explicitly by what the post said, it can only shoot down base defense projectiles? It's not defensive at all. Unless the name is supposed to mean it's a drone meant to fight defenses.
Although I'm positive that the wording is just bad and it's supposed to work like the Predator did.

Sounds interesting... ill have to see it working... If im correct, this was an ability that an old terran air unit had... dont remember the name... it was scrapped... I kanda like this ability...
The name... well I think blizzard lost all respect for names in SC2, its like the 1210123091230 name that this unit gets... Nomad, Vulcan, Nighthawk, now Raven... then Cheetah... then Britney Spears...
This is a good example of what i said above... Brood Lord.... Hummm.... ITS A FRIGGIN GUARDIAN IN 3D!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If the unit has new abilities... then why the hell use the same old model... I mean please... i know its not ready yet... but they returned to the old aspect... thats not evolving....

One of the limitations that the old battery had was that i was a building, so u couldnt move it... now with a templar being able to do that job... THE PROTOSS ARE GETTING SOME SORT OF MEDIC!!!!!!!!! Since im a Protoss fan.. i love this...
Oh and the name... plasma surge??? please Blizzard... WHo r u tying to impress???? Its the same old "recharge shields"... dont mess around with abilities names... Its the same stuff that happens with the BROOOOOD LOOOORD!!!!! Its a guardian... period...

Yeah well...they didn't really go into details in the description of this ability
It might just as well be possible that the drone isn't stationary at all and is instead used to protect the nighthawk/raven (maybe the drone is circling around it) from base defenses ---> hence defensive drone ^^
