No Boot Options

Am working on a friend's XP computer. Upon trying to boot-up, get message that no boot
option found. I go into BIOS, and ONLY option is Boot from external drive. I've even
swapped hard drives, and changed BIOS battery, same result. Hiren's Boot CD gives same
results. I'm thinking of plugging in an external floppy drive and seeing if I can boot
that way.Any ideas appreciated.Thank you.
