old Windows XP and 200mb drive install

How can I get around windows limitations to "see" a 200 mb hard drive, eide, (samsung) when I am using a Windows XP version 0 disc (2002) ... tho its been running XP sp2, that drive will be removed. Allternatively, should I clone the sp2 older drive (which is a smaller 40 gb) with Acronis on the larger drive?

thanks for help!

home built system using Gigabyte mboard, 1 gb ram, Windows xp orig, 40 gb Maxtor drv.

first of all you meant 200Gb drive right?

ever hear of "slipstream"?
google it...

use slipstream make a new install cd out of the old one with servicePack SP1 or Sp2, or sp3
boot the PC with the new CD, your larger harddrive will be "see"[n].....

As long as the new drive is going into the current system, just clone it. Unless you are wanting to completely reinstall and then transfer the files that you need from the smaller HD when you are done.

Yes, sorry, my bad, I did mean a 200 GB hddrv!

Thanks for slipstream idea, I will Google it.

Yes, cloning might be easiest option, as long as I can still use the large 150 or so GB not used by the smaller drive....will that be any problem ?

Thanks for the help!

Acronis can expand the clone and use the whole drive for you.
