replacing internal harddisk of laptop

The hard disk (30GB) of my Compaq Presario Laptop 2910AT has gone defective. How do I change it. Can any one explain.

2910AT doesn't cross to any known model number on the HP/Compaq site.

Go here and let HP scan your laptop. It should find everything you need for it. I don't know where you are, but you may need to change location in the top right corner of the page.

Kinda hard to do that with a bad hard drive - I was trying to find you the manual to download, which would tell you how.

True, but at least the owner can type in the correct model and serial # for themselves and still get the necessary info.

Generally you can flip the laptop over and there is a cover with it on.

Sometimes its 4 screws and it pops out the side, sometimes you have to take the CD drive out and its underneath.

I've even seem them under keyboards!

Best thing to do - seeing you have a internet connection of some sort - is to quickly search for service manuals on the HP website for your model and then it should give you a full detailed instruction on how to remove your hard drive.
