Unidentified Network local access only Vista

I recently created similar thread but now I will add some more details because no one replied in the other one.

Before it was saying Limited Connection and DNS error/problem, I dont know how to fix it, I installed Vista second time but still the same. I also read that this can be cause of the lack of IP address or something.

It is weird that I can connect into a Belkin G Plus Broadband normally but I cant connect into the Talk Talk line at my home and at my friends house as well. It has to have something to do with Vista because there are 2 computers with Windows XP connected into that Talk Talk Broadband at my house, but somehow Vista doesnt like it....

Please can you try to help me with this one?

So let me get this straight...

You can see ALL the computers on your local network, But you are unable to connect to the internet?

Model #'s of the equipment in question would be helpful as well ( More details Please)

No, there are 2 networks Mine - Talk Talk and some other without a password protection Belkin G Plus I can connect into both of them because 1 of them is mine and the other one haven't got a password.

When I connect into mine I get unidentified network and I can't browse anything, I also noticed that there is no little Earth icon on the task bar.

But when Im connecting into the Belkin G Plus I get successfully connected and there is a little Earth icon + I can browse everything... lol

It is a Acer Aspire 5315 with windows Vista OS

So,

Just for troubleshooting can you connect to your "talk-talk" with a wired connection, and see if the web is available?

Unidentified Network local access only Vista

Nope, I got a CD from Talk Talk and I tried direct connection with the router and still the same problem, the computer cannot connect into the router.

Have you set the user name and password from your isp in the router?

Unidentified Network local access only Vista

I tried to do this http://www.talktalk.co.uk/help/broad...ustomised.html but I still couldnt connect into the router.

I think its because of the driver, because there is still a yellow Ethernet icon in the device manger http://www.imagebanana.com/view/xv78crne/1.jpg and I cant find that particular driver, on the Aspirer's 5315 driver site there is like 6 different Lan/WLan drivers, I tried to install them all but I couldnt find the setup icon on some of them. When I try to update the driver through the internet (Belking G Plus) the PC cant find the driver.

Why do you need a wireless driver if it works to connect to the "belkin" unit?

Have you tried to connect to the router wired yet?

Unidentified Network local access only Vista

I don't know, I can connect into the belkin... Talk Talk is the worst Broadband that I ever had...

I tried to connect wired and wireless, nothing works, I cant connect into the router on the vista...

I also wanted to install Windows XP to see if its gonna work on the XP but when the CD is loading there is something saying that the PC cant find a Hard-Drive, Its weird cause I successfully installed Windows Vista on the same machine..

XP does not have very good SATA drivers. Thus if you're only using SATA HDD you'll probably get that error.

But I doubt your OS is your problem. I assume the two XP computers you have that connect to Talk-Talk are wired connections to your network. It should work via a wired connection via your laptop if you were to get the laptops driver issue sorted out (its wired network card's driver doesn't work, but its wireless network card does).

But you are having a second problem at the same time. This one is with your wireless network. I'm wondering if your laptop and the Talk-Talk router are compatible. Is your Talk-Talk router wireless G as well? It is wireless G, then does this router have any wireless security enabled? Is MAC filtering enabled? You may want to disable these security features temporarily just to see if you can get your laptop to connect.

If your router is Wireless G, then chances are you're experiencing a MAC filtering problem. For it sounds like your laptop can hear your router, but the router is refusing to pay attention to your laptop when your laptop asks for information.

Unidentified Network local access only Vista

Im not really that into the computers, but if you could explain how to disable those things I would love to try to do that

Unidentified Network local access only Vista

I connected it wirelessly on the Windows Xp

I reset the router because I though that would fix the problem but it disappeared completely. And Im a ware that even if I go to his house I still wouldn't be able to connect into the internet because the laptop would not find the broadband, thats why I need to make sure that I can connect the laptop into the internet through the cable and set up the router eventually.

Nevermind...

Thank you for help guys and sorry for taking your time

You shouldn't have to...then someone would have to re-provision everytime the power went out.

Huh, ?

If you don't have the driver for the LAN, how did you even set up the modem?

You need to connect wired to have the modem provisioned, then after the fact (modem provisioning), attach the router to the modem...then the computer to the router

Unidentified Network local access only Vista

What's your router's make and model number? The router is the box that the Talk Talk modem is plugged into.

The steps to check/alter those settings will vary greatly depending on the router's make/model.
