@Rollingstone

I have tried to apply the setting, I am getting a bit weird result from the speedtest (http://www.ozspeedtest.com/).

If the signal is 5 bars (full) I got:
Your line speed is 286 kbps (0.29 Mbps).
Your download speed is 36 KB/s (0.03 MB/s).

But the signal is 4 bars I got:
Your line speed is 1.15 Mbps (1153 kbps).
Your download speed is 144 KB/s (0.14 MB/s).

I tried couple times, Isn't the 5 bars is faster or at least about the same?

How to do that? The modem (usb dongle) manual does not tell anything about log into my modem unlike the normal router/modem they give you IP to type in, and the software that come from vodafone does not tell the downstream/upstream rate.

thank you

With that type of connection I think the ping will always be flacky since it's all wirrless interent anyway.

If you had a wire conenction the latency should be less since there isn't as mnay osbitcles to dodge such as tree other wirless frequencies.

is that from the network icon at tray or ur 3G watcher(modem software)
cause ur network icon mention ur modem speed(7.2Mbps)
but ur actual dw/up speed limit depend on signal that u receive(HSPA+/HSPA/HSUPA/HSDPA/UMTS)

try this if u want:
- clear all cablenut setting (better to backup first)
- use auto DNS
- Try the following with TCP Optimizer:
Quote:
General Settings tab:
Custom settings - check
Modify All Network Adapters - check
network adapter selection - your NIC
MTU - 1440
TTL - 64
Windows Scaling - check
TCP Receive Window - 128800
MTU Discovery - Yes
Black Hole Detect - No
Selective Acks - Yes
Max Duplicate ACKs - 2
TCP 1323 Options:
Timestamps - uncheck

Advanced Settings tab:
Max Connections per Server - 10
Max Connections per 1.0 Server - 10
LocalPriority - 5
Host Priority - 6
DNSPriority - 7
NetbtPriority - 8
Lan Browsing speedup - optimized
QoS: NonBestEffortLimit - 0
ToS: DisableUserTOSSetting - 0
ToS: DefaultTOSValue - 0
MaxNegativeCacheTtl - 0
NetFailureCacheTime - 0
NegativeSOACache Time - 0
LAN Request Buffer Size - 32768
- use TCP/IP Analyzer http://www.speedguide.net:8080/
- check ur result, should be like this
Quote:
MSS: 1400
MTU: 1440
TCP Window: 128800 (multiple of MSS)
- if OK, then do tracert
- if ur tracert result still like this
Quote:
1 126 ms 128 ms 139 ms 10.103.17.71
2 * * * Request timed out.
3 * * * Request timed out.
- find network port setting on ur AVAST & uncheck port 8080
- do tracert & see if no.2 still "Request timed out" or not!?
- if trace no.2 OK, than u can try http://speedtest.net/

Post the Result
Hope it help

It is from modem software, it said "Vodafone Australia HSDPA"
As for the TCP Optimizer, on "Network adapter selection" I can't find my usb modem, Should I just leave it as it is (default selection)?

thanks

i read from here : http://www.bytemobile.com/products-a...-overview.html
i think this application ack like cfosspeed, as a traffic shaper!!

From that site under the picture :
Web Optimization can be deployed with or without a client, ensuring maximum rollout flexibility. By dynamically and automatically tuning itself to the network and its conditions, Web Optimization can also increase the effective bandwidth available to individual users — which reduces the amount of time spent waiting for the network and improves the overall user experience.
read the manual how to disable that one!! or ask ur provider!!

u can use hijack or taskman to kill/end task that program but i dont recommended cause we still analize ur problem that caused tarecert-hop no.2 time out. (is it caused by blocked port by a software?! or caused by a line signal quality?!)

BTW how ur last tracert result!!
