Just checking before i spend more money then i need, Running 1920X1200 res, i7 920 with 8 gigs of ram, just gaming nothing else. Get just one card for now and maybe upgrade to SLI when i buy 2 more LCDs for tri-moniter gaming? TIA!

A signle GTX 480 compliment that system, perfectly.

Wait to go SLI (and upgrade to a 1kW+ PSU?) until you're ready for 2D or 3D surround.

Waiting for my monitors to come in, I felt stupid for having SLI GTX 480's. It was a ridiculous waste for 1680x1050. Now that I'm running three monitors, I don't know if two GTX 480's are enough. Gone are the days of 120fps in most games. :-)

LOL, my 8800GTXs in SLI are starting to age but not that badly thou. From everything i read i figured 1 is enough but SLI is always a good thing. Just gotta figure out which moniters to get, i think thats going to be the hard part when its time to pull the trigger on that.

GTX460 in SLI would also be a good alternative
- about 20% faster than a single GTX480, for around the same cost..

Go with SLI GTX 460s, same price as a 480 but a good deal faster, and you can do NV surround.

Yep, that's what I don't like about them and also why I didn't go the SLI GTX 460 route.

That's the route that I went with to power my three Dell 2209wpa's (I previously had a single 5870). If/when I upgrade to 19x10 or 19x12 monitors, I'll look into GTX 480/485's and a new PS of course.
