Iphone pricing best option

A quick history involves me dropping my iphone 3gs into a cup of tea and the insurance not being able to replace it so giving me ?450 to replace it.

I'm not overlly fussed about having a brand new one so does anyone know where I could get a cheaper 3gs refurbished from somewhere?

I know O2 have refurb iphones but not sure if they only use them as replacements for existing customers (instead of flogging them) - not tempted by an iphone 4?

After seeing my friends I can say I am, my 3gs seemed better built. I may just get a ?50 phone and have ?400 to spend on whatever I want, cheeky bonus.

Iphone 4's are ?499 for a 16GB and ?599 (:O) for a 32GB.

However an HTC Desire is only about ?380, so that may be worth a look if you still wanted a smartphone.

3GS seemed better built than an iPhone 4, are you kidding?

^^ Just what I thought the I4 oozes quality in the build, then turning it on does the job again to see a high quality screen rather than pixels.

I'm just stating what I thought at the time, the screen did definately look better but the phone to me didn't feel the same. I've decided to sack off getting another iphone and am instead looking at a cheaper replacement and a few hundred to spend on whatever.

Yes, it feels different because its glass and metal, not plastic.

How that can make something feel less solid/well built is beyond me

Whilst the iphone feels amazing in hand and the quality is great, a glass back was a mistake imo. Back to the op, do you still want a smartphone?

Yep but now i'm going to look at the lower end of the market, probably an android setup, any recommendations ?100-200 but cheaper the better.

I come from Android and have to say prefer I4 I have had milestone, Desire and Galaxy S.

If you going to android i would say Desire or Galaxy S seem to be the best choices out, from personal experience i would take the Galaxy S over the Desire but that will still cost you close to ?400.

Desire seems to have dropped in price a bit and i seen it sim free for ?379 mark so a decent price there.

Other option is say the HTC Wildfire which seems to go around ?220-?300 mark. Wildfire below.

I don't think you will get much for ?100-?200 unless you look for second hand or maybe a HTC Hero ?.
