I'm having difficulty getting 3G working on my Desire. Anyone know how?
The manual configs on the o2 site don't help either...

Any help would be appreciated, thx

It works without playing around with settings. Either you are not connecting to 3G or you haven’t got a 3G SIM.

Settings>Wireless&Networks>Mobile Networks>Access Point Names

There should be an APN here with O2 settings in it. If not, hit menu and add new APN and fill in the O2 details.

Have you rooted the device? Or rom flashed?

I've got a 3G sim as I sold the phone to myself to I know that for sure. I've added all the APN's from the o2 website and that doesn't work. I then did a master reset on the phone and wiped everything and started again, still doesn't work.

I sold my older brother one aswell and his isn't working. When I'm at work everyone on o2 seems to get 3g signal but I don't. I just can't figure it out :'(

Aye, just GPRS. No Edge, No 3G, No HSDPA.
It's where-ever I go aswell aswell, but my mates on o2 can get 3g, but they've all got iphones.

Do you have a Desire and have it working w/ 3g?

It could be an issue with the O2 firmware maybe? Or a network issue? Dunno, sounds odd!

I am having the exactly same issue as Haunt! Where I used to have 3.5g on my N95 I am now only getting "G" this is making tethering unbearable!

On the way home from work I swear I saw it flash to "E" for 2 seconds

I've got the same issue here as well with my phone.

O2 are sending me a new sim but I'm pretty sure it won't work as iv tried mates at work and it's no better on my phone!

All the settings are correct and whats the weird thing is i had to send my first Desire back as the Mic was broken on it but the inter was always on H now with the replacement phone it's stuck on G pretty much all the time!

Whats the software fix?

by fixed he means he can get one by standing at a funny angle right next to a window

Sounds just like my phone! Maybe I should try get a replacement?

Well I'm going to ask for another one I'm fed up with far as I'm concerned when the lads at work get H or 3G and i can't then it points to my phone .


Fed up with all this and to think i waited for O2 to release this phone !

Where did you get this fix from i'm still having issues with my phone to the point i'll be sending it back soon and getting a i phone or something as i just can't use the internet on this desire it's only showing G most of the time!

Anyway, the phone just prompted me to update itself.
That's it. Maybe connect it to wifi and look for a manual update option.

You havn't got a power manager and turned off 3g or the like have you? I'd try a full reset first if you open to it.

Hi, old thread but I need to ask how people on O2 are getting on with 3g on desire?
I have recently picked up a tesco sim (O2 network) and have never seen anything other than G or E, E very briefly, In towns or cities where O2 claim to have coverage,

I am on latest .20 radio and leedroid 1.8a. Unlocked from t-mobile origianally, no issues on an orange sim

Does anyone one get good 3g on O2 desire?

Mines continually pretty much on H in town and drops to G when spanking in the country side, actually i've never seen a 3g symbol
