80s 90s SciFi films

What are your favourites? I've been watching things like Total Recall, Escape from LA etc lately as I quite like them... I'm sure I've seen many, many similar films in the past but I can't recall any!

Anyone suggest any similar films - i.e. set in space or doomsday/apocalyptic etc?

Great film. I'm not usually a fan of prequels/sequels but this movie definitely deserves a prequel.

Aliens

Game over man...game over

Event Horizon was also good, can't see a prequel working tbh considering how everyone went nuts. A sequel would be good, but Anderson has spent more time butchering the Aliens, Predator and Resident Evil franchises of late .

That would be the film. They test the drive, one by one they go nuts, have a giant blood orgy for the big finale, then the ship returns ready to be 'rescued' by Laurence Fishburne.

Was apparently an extra 30 mins detailing the above scenes but was chopped out and thrown away was deemed too gory and unnessecary for the story by the big wigs or something like that...damn shame i say

I was on about the original crew, i assumed they all went nuts at the same time, as they went with the ship into 'hell' when they activated the drive. Just don't see how you can have a film when everyone would have already been driven insane.

I think they showed it to a test audience who didn't warm to the bloody orgy scene, after that the gruesome stuff got pulled. It's a shame. Apparently Emily Booth was in there somewhere

I don't think it's ever made clear in the original film. And who's to say that they all went insane at the same time?
