"We may have over-ordered due to World Cup hopes, but that's no reflection on Frank's popularity."

Best laugh I've had in ages. I think some of these overrated (average) players have had a well over due come back down to earth this summer. Shame its at the expense of a charity.

Should've made a "Paul the Octopus" signature range instead, at least he performed during the World Cup.

Who in their right mind would buy one of those?

What was Frank & that company thinking?!?

Azza

Lamps Meltdown

I saw this in the transfer thread as well, who seriously thought that there would ever be enough demand for a gold plated iPod with Frank Lampard's signature on it beyond that of Frank, his girlfriend and possibly his parents? And then almost as bizarrely why have they opted for Hello Kitty now? Maybe I'm misjudging the market but I wouldn't have thought Hello Kitty fans were a demographic that was on average particularly wealthy enough to afford gold plated iPods.

To be fair, so are most Chelsea 'fans'.

Well someone obviously went to Lampard and said can they do it, and he said, ok, any money I get goes to charity. SO hardly anything to complain to Lampard about, loads of people will constantly throw items with names on at people hoping everyone can make money out of it, he only did it for Charity, its the company that made way to many thats the laughing stock.

AS for Hello Kitty, even if ENgland won the world cup its doubtful many people would have bought a gold plated frank lampard utterly ridiculous looking with writing all over it ipod, the company just suck at idea's full stop. Hello Kitty is a better idea though, younger kids with uber rich parents who get everything they ask for, girls, gold, ipod, hello kitty, it could do okay to be honest.

Chelsea fans, older football fans, guys, gold ipod, just doesn't work any way you look at it.

in fairness, apple fanboys are pretty stupid and will spend any amount of money if it's got an apple on it...so it obviously seemed like a good idea at the time.

Shamikebab

Surely they didn't sell any of them, except from Lampard's family.

syke

What a daft idea, just imagine how daft it could've been if an overrated (average) player had put his name to it though.

Carlton Cole iPod Edition

Or the Emile Heskey chunky gold iPod. A bit crap and wearing thin around the top.

or you open it and it's just a turd in the box.

Shamikebab

The downside of the Emile Heskey ipod would be that it only plays an mp3 four times a year. Bad value right there!

I agree with what DM said.

I have just scratched Von on my old Samsung D600.

600 quid and it's the property of a lucky forumite here.

Von Smallhausen

Lamps Meltdown

Can we haggle over the price?

Linoge

Lamps Meltdown

Indeed you can.

599 and it's yours. Postage is 6 grand.

All proceeds go to the Von Smallhausen Beer and Curry Trust.

Von Smallhausen

Lamps Meltdown

I'm sorry, I considered the offer but it just doesn't make financial sense to me and for that reason I'm out. If you had lowered it to 400 I maybe would have been interested in it.

Linoge

Lamps Meltdown

I can't let it go for less. I'd be cutting my arm off. You understand guv'nor.

Von Smallhausen

Lamps Meltdown

I do. Can you provide possible future predictions on how valuable it will get as time passes by?

Linoge

Lamps Meltdown

A fortune mate.

I reckon a grand by Christmas.

Von Smallhausen

Lamps Meltdown

I'm glad I got mine early then
