Impact Whey quick question

I've been using the Impact Whey (from myprotein) mixed with milk post and pre-workout and was wondering, can I mix 2-3 lots at once and store them in the fridge for later or do I have to consume them right away?

Its a little awkward washing out the blender several times a day

I did search for it but the term "impact whey consume right away" obviously wont give me results lol.

I'd say invest in a shaker

it's a breeding ground for bacteria - so no you can't store for later (not safely, anyway)

You do also realise that most of it is probably going to go straight out through your kidneys?

Strength athletes (read: those who actually want tangible strength improvements) only consume 10-15% more protein than the average sporty Joe, so maybe the answer is not to make so much?

Cheers for the replies. I know its probably a dumb question, but I figured I'd ask rather than assume

Yup, make sure you wash out your shakers of they're a goner!

AFAIK you can store whey for several hours, in the fridge.

Sign up to UK-Muscle and search on there as it's been asked numerous times.

Alternatively just add your milk/water as and when? keep your milk in a thermos if need be.

I got some of this delivered yesterday in fact. A nice big 5kg bag of the strawberry. Got to say it tastes awesome with milk. With water though, jesus I nearly threw up this morning but managed to get that baby down.

Came home from the gym just now and got myself a glass with water again. Decided to add some vimto and my god, back to tasting lovely. Do you think adding vimto is going to have negative effects other than the sugar and what not it has in it? Thoughts?

Do you think having skimmed milk all the time would be a better option?

Also, it tastes damn nice just putting a bit of powder in your mouth...top tip there

I dunno, but I usually drink semi skimmed, and have skimmed only with a pwo shake

How often do you have some out of interest? I know there is a lot of chat in the supps thread etc, but seeing as we are talking specifically whey here.

that doesnt make sense. yes the milk is nice, but it wouldnt make a sickening taste suddenly taste awesome!

I think it may be that the powder isn't strong enough (maybe because i'm not adding enough) to make the water taste completely of strawberry, like a cordial would. Hence what i'm tasting is more like tainted water. I am a bit funny about water as it is, don't like warm water, cloudy water, etc. Going to try adding more whey tomorrow to see if that helps but as it stands i'm quite happy with the added vimto approach.

I actually also found that found that when I drank PhD's Synergy - both the strawberry and vanilla were fantastic with soya milk, but pretty minging with water. MP's hurricane in chocolate nut tastes alright but still much better with soy milk

Well this is the thing, I bought the myprotein whey which didn't come with a scoop. I noticed they sold scoops on the site for a reasonable price after i'd already committed to buying, d'oh.

I've just been adding a heaped tablespoon, not sure how that compares to a proper scoop? 25g is the proper amount correct?

kinobestew123

Impact Whey quick question

25/30.
a heaped teaspoon is about 5g, so 6 of them should do it.

Morba

Whereas a heaped tablespoon should be about right.

So Terry Hollands only consumes 10-15% more protein than your average sporty jo? when he is 29stone and at the top of his game?

I would like to think the food he cosumes is vastly more than your average sporty jo

Or am i reading your post wrong?

NitrogenY3K

Impact Whey quick question

It should tell you quantities on the packet but if you're not sure buy a sample packet which is the recommended quantity and measure that.

I wouldn't store it - it's so easy to make, why do you need a blender unless you are adding fruit to it? If you are adding fruit then I would blend a whole bunch (say blueberries) and then take out whatever quantity you want the day before and keep it in the fridge.

Myprotein do shakers for under ?2 with the metal widget. I keep one at home and one at work. Fine mixing with milk and water.

Olympic strength athletes vs. other Olympic athletes.

And I should have been clearer = 10-15% more in terms of actual protein content relative to calories.

If Mr. Hollands needs 10000 calories a day to sustain himself, the protein content/ratio only needs to be 10-15% higher than somebody who needs 10000 calories a day (say an Olympic swimmer).

When you consider there is very little scientific evidence for skewed protein intake (such as that derived from whey shakes), I would like to think that it's just a matter of genetics, training and good, balanced diet that do it.

mrthingyx

Impact Whey quick question

I have to say I find myself agreeing with your scepticism of whey protein supplements - the fact is you don't need to ingest 3x your bodyweight (I may be exaggerating a little) of protein for it to be useful, and the NPU (net protein utilisation) of most foods means that a lot of it isn't used, furthermore peak protein synthesis is around 30-40g - it's a bell curve or a SD curve. I take a shake post work out because I don't eat as soon as I'd like after training.

A balanced diet, with good fats, lots of fish, lots of green veg and fresh fruits is all you need.

My plan was to blend enough for 2 shakes, drink 1 right away and drink the other around 2 hours later. But I'll just clean it between shakes, not a huge deal.

I bought a 2.5KG unflavoured pouch. I was expecting a much smaller pouch.

Tried it with just water when I was low on milk, most disgusting thing I've drank in a while

Exact same thing happened to me. Depends on the size of your tablespoon lol, heres the size of it.
