The grips on my 1992 Yamaha Divvy are very old, almost worn through in places. So I'm looking for some replacements. A few questions:

Any particular brand worth looking for?

What glue should I be picking up at the same time?

Anything else that I should be aware of?

Do you want heated grips, or ordinary?

Ordinary, just get OEMs.

Grip glue (no idea which brand i used) will be what you want to fix them to the bars

Just normal ones will do for now. I had a quick look around and could find any OEM ones, but maybe I'll have more luck when I get home. Even though it's almost completely faded I think I can see the renthal logo on the ones that are on it currently.

Renthal Medium Compound for me, Nice and soft to avoid vibration and fatigue.

Renthals are cheap and excellent, as for glue hairspray works well, slippery enough wet to get them on and dry without being stuck like poop to a blanket, I've just Araldited my hot grips on as they have a solid lining not flexible

Same here, mine had cheap chinese grips when I first got it and had to hold it pretty tight to keep the throttle open else it would slip shut! Renthals where just over ?5, why people skimp on such small items, I don't know.

Renthal do their own glue for the grips, perhaps not the cheapest of glues but at least you'll know it won't turn them to some strange sludge

Same - I didn't even glue mine on and they hardly move - they might twist a bit in the middle, but they're secure, on the whole.

If you decide not to glue them, just put them in a bowl of REALLY HOT water for 5 or 10 minutes, they become really pliable, get them on quick and allow time for them to dry out between grip and bar. Job jobbed.

My bike is still on the originals 24 years on.When we used to fit grips on mountain bikes we used a small amount of hair spray it was good to lube it then stuck to the rubber.

How it would be on a motorbike im not to sure.
