IPB2.3.x to phpBB 3 different domains

If this is not the right place to put this, well sorry cuz i'm new here XD

This is my problem:

I've an own domain and i use phpBB but now i need to copy the database from an IPB(v2.3.6) forum in a different server to my phpBB (v3.05) forum! (I've already made the backup from the IPB forum and i've the sql result file)

I saw here a converter from IPB2.3.x to phpBB 3 but they need to be on the same domain, what is not the case!

Probably i can do it converting from IPB to phpBB 2 and after that upgrade it to phpBB 3, but i would like a faster and enlighten solution XD

Can someone help me with my problem please?

It doesn't matter to what you convert (2.0.x or 3.0.x) the IPB database needs to be readable by the converter and thus be on the same server. Simply move the IPB installation on the phpBB server, run the converter and remove the IPB installation.

#2) Think before you type.
Always backup your database before running any script that might alter it!

Huh? Your first post says that you are using IPB.

By IPB installation, Erik Fr??rejean means your IPB database and files. They both need to be moved to where the phpBB installation is. Or you could install phpBB on the same server as IPB and then move phpBB to the new location after the conversion.

The forum is not mine XD A few friends of mine created the forum using this http://www.oxyhosts.com/about.html

But now they want to change it cuz they don't like it, but they don't want to lose all the info they have there! So i'm trying to create a phpBB forum with all the info of the IPB forum.

That's why i can't install phpBB on the same server as IPB, and i only know how to get the database backup XD

Now I understand.

You will need to install phpBB3 on your server.
You will need to import the IPB database backup to a database on your server. You can either create a new database of use the phpBB3 database.

Are you able to get a backup of the IPB files? In order to do the conversion, you need to have the files. If you don't have the files a conversion can still be done. You will have to create a dummy file so the convertor will think that the IPB files are present. Also, if you don't have the files, you will lose the attachments and avatars from IPB.

At the moment i can't get those files! I've send a ticket to the admins but i don't think they will solve my problem!
How do i do a dummy? Do you have a link of that info here on the forum?

I just want all posts, topics and users cuz the rest i'll do it with phpBB instead cuz i prefer that way!

Tks in advance, you're a life savior

The IPB convertor looks for a file named init.php

To make a dummy file, create a file and save it as init.php. It doesn't matter what you type into the file. You could even leave it blank.

Upload the newly created file to a directory on your server. When you run the convertor it will ask for the relative path to your IPB files. You only need to point the directory where you uploaded the dummy file.

Also, be sure to read Convert How To.

Where can i get a few nice features to add on my forum (a link please)? I've a few like arcade and shoutbox, but i want something different

Thank you very much for the big help!

I doubt if you are missing anything if some users can login and others can't. The solution will depend on what the error message is when they try to login.
You have to check that the password and salt transferred correctly and the that user_convert field is set to 1.
You have to know what the password is, apply the hash and check that the hash matches what is stored in the database.
Then you have to check that the auth_ipb is working correctly.
