How do i make an image clearer after making it bigger?

I use photoshop ("free transform") to make small image bigger. And as you might already know ; the image get's a little bit blurry\unclear after changing it's size to a bigger one. Is there a way i can make it clearer after changing it's size? i used to "free transform" then use the filter "sharpen" on it to make it look better , but are there more efficent ways?

Thats because it was the "MOVIES"

In real life though, i guess they have better and custom top notch rendering software written which would rebuild the pixels and enhance the clarity as it is zoomed. Photoshop could have that, but it would cost a ton.

I figured this was cus it was in a huge resolution and that they were just "zoomed out" lol

One thing that I do in photoshop is duplicating the picture a couple times. Then use guassian blur on on in the middle of the stack then put overlay and soft light on them to make it more clear and it also brings out the picture more.

That's pretty brilliant Con

I downloaded the demo version of Imagener... and it's quite cute but inert...
nothing appears in either window...

I'd like to try it, even though I think Con has the answer....

Pff I thought everyone knew that

trouble is it still gets a bit grainne if you scan too big. But I figure scan too big and then resize back down till it loses its grainneness.

Take the printed image and scan it at 300dpi with the proper scan settings. Voila!

You now have a high res image in good quality. Now you don't have to worry about making it clear after making it bigger. Just scale down on a 72 dpi canvas (if it is for web)

Try sharpening, try converting to 300dpi before scale and scale with transform not free transform or hold shift when doing so to get a proportional.
Noise despeckle.
If it's more than 200% forget abouuuut it.

Or.. untested but could work.
convert it to vector with illustrator or streamline even flash, scale then save as raster again.

I know it's impossible to do , but i just wanted to make it as clear as possible and i thought you guys have some methods to do that in Photoshop.

Egor , that program costs money

I don't think so. It is impossible to do that! To enlarge the image by using 'free transform' WILL be blurry/unclear. You could try 300dpi in 'Image Size' but still blurry

Oh it would be SWEET if that was possible, but it's not . Sure, SOME improvements are maybe possible to achieve, but nothing extraordinary.

http://www.imagener.com/ - Looks like an option. Try the demo and see how it goes.
